Product Innovation

Disney Electronics

Disney Electronics was an early-2000s consumer product initiative that reimagined kids’ audio and video devices as character-driven design objects. The line included televisions, DVD players, clock radios, and related electronics that brought Disney storytelling into everyday technology. The work showed how commodity hardware could become more playful, emotional, and collectible through industrial design and beloved IP, ultimately building a multi-hundred-million-dollar business. Jonah was instrumental in this work for frog design.

Disney Electronics

Tension.

Kids’ electronics didn’t really exist — just toys. Why didn’t kids deserve real products?

Action.

Combined frog design, the Memorex brand, and Disney IP — partnered with big-box retailers to create televisions, DVD players, clock radios, and PCs that were genuinely built for kids. Won a ton of design awards and built a multi-hundred-million-dollar business.

Clarity.

Kids deserved real products, not toy versions of adult ones. Build for them with the same craft and imagination you’d bring to any audience, and you don’t just win awards — you create a category.
